On November 14, the girls basketball team opened their season in the Falcon/Bunnie Classic tournament and came out fourth overall.
Assistant Coach Devin Kyler explained that her favorite part about coaching is “helping young athletes enjoy playing sports and competing, while also trying to remind them that they’re more than just athletes.” Kyler has a passion for basketball, saying, “I like the pace of the game, and that it’s a sport where you play offense and defense.”
As a new student and teammate this year, sophomore Jordan Elmore said she’s excited about “getting closer and creating new bonds with people! Also looking forward to team-bonding and having a lot of fun with my team on and off the court.”
Coming from a different basketball environment, Elmore also said, “Last year there was a lot of pressure from our coach, with it being her first year coaching at Centennial, and I was nervous going into the season not knowing what to expect with a new coaching style. I also didn’t have very many close friends on the team because not a lot of people played. But this year has been super fun so far, and the coaching and environment is a lot less stressful and more enjoyable.”
The Sages are off to a great start this year and ready for a big season.
