With some new players, and a new season starting for the boys’ basketball teams, new goals and bonds are being built.
JV player Ike Young says, “I am feeling very good about this season.” He also mentioned how their first game, on November 22, went good and how he feels his team plays well together. When asked about any goals he hopes to achieve within this year’s season, he replies, “I have no specific goals for myself, but I hope to be able to make my teammates better.”
JD is a Freshman this year and was asked how he feels with his first season beginning here at MHS. He responded, “I say I am pretty great. Middle school to high school is a big jump, but you know I am feeling very hype!”
Coach Roy, going on his 17th basketball season at Monticello High School, explains his excitement for this season to begin. “I have always had a love for the game of basketball growing up. There is something about being in the gym that always brings excitement. I really enjoy practices, I really look forward to working with these guys in practice. Practice time is so valuable and the time we get to spend together as a team working to make ourselves better. It’s these times in practice that you get to have the most impact on the team and their improvement.” He then goes on to describe his team as a hardworking group of young men and mentions a few of his players as well. “They are working hard to become the best that we can be as a team. Our four seniors we have are Will Ross, Drew Sheppard, Mick Wright and Tylor Bundy along with juniors Trey Welter, Raided Colbert and Jack Weidner.” He also mentions the talented group of Sophomores he has this year and how they are expecting to make great strides throughout the season.
