The theme for this year’s homecoming was Under The Sea. Many students had different thoughts on the theme, but sophomore Mila Wittig said, “I think it’s a really good theme, especially considering that last year, we had a theme that was focused in the sky. I think it’s a lot different this year, and I think that’s a really good difference.”

The main focal point of the theme is always the homecoming murals. To make his mural outshine the rest, fellow sophomore Jacob Wood stated, “I think a lot of people just [copied] and pasted the same picture and … put it all over their mural. We tried to get different inspo pictures for all of our stingrays, just so each one of them looked unique.”

Some students might have some difficulties with their project. For sophomore Zack Gudgel, it’s “accurate proportions, realistic looks, and especially… silhouettes.” That’s not the only problem someone may struggle with though. For Jacob it was “…making our paint lines look even because we’re not really proficient with using paint as we are with using pencils. So translating it from sketches to actually painting is the challenge, but, you know, we’re working through it.”

Students also had parts of their project they enjoyed. Zack stated, “…it’s just [that] I like to draw a lot. I haven’t drawn much in my free time but it gets me back into drawing whenever I’m not into it.” Jacob had a similar opinion, saying “I really like the creative freedom we have and the opportunity to do our own design. It was really fun to choose our own animal.”
