With homecoming fast approaching, MHS student council was hard at work with getting the school engaged in spirit days and having fun during homeroom after a long day at school.

Junior Millie Hollingsworth brought some energy and fun into spirit days this year. She also brought some big ideas for next year, “I think next year we should change some of the themes just for something new.” Hollingsworth said “…the preparation for Homecoming has been good” and she is most looking forward to Fridays theme, Sage Rage because Hollingsworth believes “…the parade really brings together not only the entire school, but the community as well!”

Senior Emma Arnold also loves the week of Homecoming as much as everyone else. Arnold says “My favorite event is Homecoming because we go into the biggest ideas and themes for this event, and it’s fun to meet all together and come up with new ideas each year.” Arnold is already thinking ahead for winter activities and how the school can stay involved. Arnold mentions that “this winter, the blood drive is our next biggest event and we are trying to get as much people to donate because it will benefit both the American Red Cross Association and Student Council!”

Senior Callie Poynton touched on some of the goals in Student Council this school year such as “…engaging the students in activities especially in the gloomier months of the year.” We all know it can be hard to push through the last couple of months in the school year, but Poynton said, “We love to see smiles and laughs during the slower times in the year.” Student Council finally hopes to “come up with some activities to do in homeroom and maybe some more spirit weeks to connect more people all year round!”

In conclusion, Student Council is hard at work all year round and is always thinking one step ahead. It is up to you to keep the school pride and energy contagious throughout the school year. Participate in everything and always bring a smile to school, it becomes contagious!
