MHS students and teachers were eagerly waiting in excitement to spend time with family and friends, some having the opportunity to get out of Monticello to travel. Juniors Gemma Vance and Jack Watson shared their plans for spring break, and explained their point of view on teachers giving homework over breaks.
Vance exclaimed that she was traveling to “MiraMar Beach, Florida!” She shared that she was excited to and planned to “mostly just spend time with family, going to the beaches and [doing] some shopping.”
Watson took a different approach to spring break than Vance. “Over break, there will be three days of track practice as well as a couple meets. My family might have some stuff planned but not much because of track,” Watson explained. He planned to take a more sports focused break and also shared he would be resting as much as possible.
Vance and Watson had similar thoughts on teachers assigning homework over break. Watson had a strong opinion saying, “It’s a break from school; the whole purpose is to give students a break before the last quarter of the year.” Vance echoed these sentiments, saying, “I don’t like it. Especially as a junior, I think we deserve a break.”
Students are now returning to the fourth quarter, hopefully feeling refreshed and recharged.
