Over the past few weeks, a storm of new posters have taken over the hallways. These posters promote drinking water in a fun and memorable way through popular memes. High school principal Mr. Travis Courson said, “Personally I love it. I for one don’t drink enough water, so it’s been healthy for me seeing the reminders.”

For the most part, the creators remained anonymous to most of the school and will remain so in this article. If you know you know, but this newspaper will not break their confidentiality.

However Mr. Courson was quick to point the fingers. “My guess is that it’s Mr. Sheehan. He’s always walking around with his Stanley and indirectly promoting water intake,” said Mr. Courson

Despite not knowing who is putting them up, most members of the school would agree that these educational jokes have brightened up the hallway, and the creators have enjoyed seeing people’s responses. One said, “Some people have said they are funny, and they like them. I think it brings some humor to the hallways.”

The reminders are hard to miss with a unique poster plastered every few feet throughout all the school. Some students find the sheer amount comical while others have found it overwhelming. Junior Lynette Fenelon recounted her experience searching for a drink, “I go to the water fountain. There’s hair in the water fountain. So obviously I am not going to drink from there… Mrs. McCleary comes out and she’s like ‘How about you just get a water?’ I lost it. I lost it. I walk up the stairs… I said, ‘If I see one more water poster, it’s game.’ They’re everywhere. Everywhere I turn water poster, water poster.” Despite the dramatics, Lynette took the challenges in stride, even laughing at the whole ordeal.

The advertisements have done their intended job. They make people laugh but convey a clear message. The creators said, “The purpose is to get students to think about how they take care of their bodies through food and drinks. Right now, students are in a stage of life that they can eat whatever they want and not have any affect on their body. However, students will quickly learn the impact of the food they put in their bodies.”

After creating one of the arguably most effective advertising campaigns at Monticello High School, the creators offered this advice to others looking to make an impact. “I think it’s important to have fun and be passionate about what you’re sharing with the school. If you believe in it, individuals will feel that and want to know more!”

While the posters seem endless right now, the makers have confirmed that they will be putting no more new posters up. So enjoy them while they last!
