Spring is just around the corner. There is a lot of excitement as athletes are transitioning from their winter sports and heading into the last season of the 2026 school year and some seniors last high school season ever. Seniors Lauren Good and Addison Finet are among these athletes. They share their excitement and reminisce on their season last year.

Good and Finet explained the impact the 10 previous seniors have left on them. Good shared, “I grew up playing club soccer with most of them and we were all friends, so it’s definitely weird playing without them this year.” Finet added, “It really was a special group of people.”

Although the previous seniors will be missed, Good explained she wasn’t worried; “We have lots of new players coming in, so there’s definitely room for different girls to start, and there’s tons of room for growth and improvement.” Similarly, Finet shared, “There are so many girls that have gotten better to fill those spots and the team has a potential to be good again this year.” The varsity team will definitely look different this year with graduating 10 players but they have been working hard during their first week of practice to get ready for the season opener at Arthur.

There is a lot to be excited about this season. Good noted, “I am most looking forward to playing at the U of I field this year. The atmosphere is always top-tier, and no matter who we end up playing, it should be a good game.” Finet is also “looking forward to just having a fun season.”

The soccer girls are working hard preparing for the season, with their home opener on Thursday, March 19 against Rantoul at 4:30 pm. Show some support and pack the stands!
