We are now less than 2 weeks away from spring break and the students at MHS can start to feel it. You can tell everyone is ready for a much needed break.

However, the final weeks do have some students stressing out with all the work getting assigned, but the thought of a break is helping them get through it. “I feel pretty bittersweet about it all. I’m definitely very excited to have a week to relax, but it’s also pretty sad to think about. Once we come back from spring break, it will be me and the other seniors’ last quarter of high school. I’m just trying to soak up the last moments we have together and try my best. Lately, I have been stressed about my comp class because we just started a unit where we have to write a 3,300 word essay. We have a lot of time to work on it, but it’s still pretty daunting,” said senior Elli Andrews.

Though sometimes the hard classes will benefit you in the long run, it can be annoying especially with spring break around the corner. The class that has stressed me out the most is speech because it really challenges me and requires a lot of work outside of class. I still like the class and know it will be helpful in the long run though,” said senior Lauren Good.

Although, not everything is stressful right now as some classes are doing some fun activities before break. “I’m looking forward to the Art 4/Spanish 4 field trip to Chicago in March. We’re going to visit an art museum and the bean, and it sounds like it should be a fun trip,” shared Andrews.

Other students are just ready for it to be warm, and would prefer no homework. I am looking forward to the weather being warmer so I can go on walks and run outside again without freezing. I’m also looking forward to being able to do fun stuff with my friends more since we don’t have school. I am dreading doing homework and scholarships because they take forever and are super boring,” shared Good.

With spring sports starting tough and seniors preparing for college it is hard to schedule vacations. “I’m not going anywhere for spring break because we have our first soccer games, but I plan on spending most of my time filling out scholarship applications and hanging out with friends,” shared Good.

Sometimes though not going on vacation can be a benefit and help you make more memories with friends. I am going to be hanging out with friends and babysitting. The family I babysit for owns a flower farm, so they need to start planting over that week. I’m super excited to see and help with the progress out there,” said Andrews.

Spring break is one of the hardest breaks to make it through especially for seniors because you are so close to being done with high school. Students are ready for the warm weather and to start being able to do outdoor activities. With spring break right around the corner, everyone is ready for a break, warm weather, and being able to relax and enjoy March Madness.
