The season started February 23rd and has been moving since. With the first game coming up on March 16th, the Sages softball team gets ready to go up against Leroy.

Many are ready and prepared to start up the season. Senior Kaylin Matthews expressed, “It feels good getting back into the swing of things and being with all the girls again. I feel like our chemistry has always been pretty good so the environment and energy is always fun to come back to.”

Freshman Reese Stiger stated, ”I felt good about the first week. I was a little nervous, but once we got later into the week, my nerves died down.”

Many of these girls have been together for a long time or are new and fitting in well with the team. So far, everyone sees this season as having a good start to it.

With new leaders stepping up, there is a different feel of how this season will go. Matthews said, “This season I think will be different in the aspect of having more leadership. In past years, we haven’t had many seniors and this year there are 4 of us. The junior girls are all very knowledgeable and good leaders as well for the underclassman to lean on and look up to as they join the program.”

With the weather getting nicer, the excitement starts to show more and more. Stiger relayed, “I’m most excited for getting closer to the girls on the team and playing games against other teams.” Matthews expressed, “This season, I am more excited to see what potential we have and to see how far we can go.”
