MHS Holocaust Museum

On March 9th, 10th, and 12th, Monticello High School will have their Holocaust Museum open to the public made by MHS sophomores. People from the community are coming to see the museum, and the students are excited to show off their projects that they have been working on for the past two weeks.

Sophomore Khloe Morstatter made a closet with childrens clothes to represent all the children in the Holocaust. When asked why she did this for her project, Morstatter said, “We chose to do this because we wanted to find a way to represent the children and everything they endured during this time.” Sophomore Luna Funderburk created a replica of the barracks and the bunk beds in the concentration camps. Funderburk elaborated saying, “We wanted people to understand how crammed and uncomfortable the sleep situations were.”  Sophomores wanted to show the community the effect the Holocaust had on people then, and even now.

Morstatter stated, “I am so excited for people to see it. We put so much time into making the closet and picking out the perfect clothes, and we hope people truly see the impact it should bring to them.” Khloe Morstatter worked with Paycee Burton, and both of them contributed and worked very hard on it throughout the week. Funderburk also said, “I’ve never done a large scale project for an English class before and I’m excited to see what people think.”

The MHS sophomores worked very hard on the museum, so you should stop by on the nights of March 9th, 10th, and 12th from 6-8pm!
