Monticello high school students are currently in the dreaded third quarter, looking for ways to get through it quickly. With cold weather biting everyone and fewer entertainment options available, some are questioning what they can be doing to succeed during this time?

Many claim that they will be preparing for the ending of sports and some are preparing for new sports to begin. Motivation was also an important topic, remembering how lucky we are to have a chance at education in the first place.

Freshman Ella Fairchild explained, “I’m most looking forward to experiencing my first cheer competition in February. I’m super excited to showcase what we’ve all been working so hard on!”

Junior Maddy Saiger added, “As third quarter starts, I’m setting aside my time outside of class to prepare for the upcoming soccer season. I am going to the gym, running, and playing soccer”.

“I’ll definitely be doing a lot of scrolling on Pinterest, creating some motivational boards, reading my Bible, and just remembering how amazing it is to have the opportunity at education!” Fairchild exclaimed.

Saiger continued on to say, “In order to stay focused and motivated, I am working on getting more sleep. It’s difficult to prioritize sleep with a large amount of work.”

Prioritzing the joy in everything is something that these girls consider extremely important. Looking forward to the good, prioritizing your beliefs, and working on something is extremely important during the final stretch of the year.
