As finals creep up and Christmas break gets closer, most of us are just trying to survive the chaos long enough to make it to winter break. Between studying, sports, and holiday events, it can feel like there’s barely time to breathe.
When asked “what’s your go-to way to de-stress before finals?” the answers were very relatable. Junior Annie Robinson said, “Honestly, just going on a walk, run, or taking a long shower and listening to music helps me get less stressed.” That sounds like the best thing anyone could be doing at a time like this. Meanwhile, junior Gus Reppert took a more realistic approach, saying, “My go-to way to de-stress before finals is getting a good night’s sleep the nights leading up to finals.”
But as soon as tests are over, we can finally enjoy our break. When asked “what does the perfect day look like for you over Christmas break?” Annie painted the perfect day, “My perfect day over break would be sleeping in in the morning and then eating a huge brunch. Going shopping and buying lots of stuff, then hanging out with friends. Finally, I would end my night playing Fortnite and going to sleep with my Christmas tree on.” That sounds like the perfect day to me. On a more mellow note, Gus said his perfect day consists of “snow coming down while I get to chill at home, stress-free.” Simple, yet perfect.
For some, no school may mean fun adventures, travel, or trying new activities. When asked “are you planning anything fun or new this break?” Annie replied with, “I am going to Nashville Tennessee for the first time ever,” and stated she is very excited. Staying home can be just as entertaining too. Gus shared, “I am planning on playing in the Holiday Hoopla over break, and although we have decent competition, I think we’ll play great and compete well too.” Good luck to the Sages in the Holiday Hoopla!
As the semester wraps up, preparing for finals and Christmas break causes too much stress, but putting in the effort means everybody can enjoy the days off without school hanging over our heads. Study hard, take care of your well-being, and keep working hard for that well earned break ahead.
