Wicked: worth the watch?

Recently, the movie Wicked has been very popular. With the sequel, Wicked For Good, released for about a month, and of course all of the memes online, the real question is: is it worth the watch?

When asked to rate the Wicked movies on a scale of 1-10, sophomore Emily Matthews said, “I would rate it a nine because it was very interesting, but it took me some time to figure out the main plot of the movie.” Matthews watched the movies with her cousins, and they enjoyed it as well.

Some people liked it, but not as much. Sophomore Luna Funderburk stated that she rated the movie as a 7, and she felt that the movie would drag at times. Funderburk added, “I would recommend the movie because it’s a fun family watch.” Matthews agreed with Funderburk, adding “I would 100% recommend it because I find it very smart how the makers of the movie added all of the stuff from the play, including more, and how related it was to the Wizard of Oz.”

Now which movie is better? The first or the second?  The two had similar answers. Funderburk made it clear the first one is better. She shared, “First because I feel like the songs were better and it was more interesting.” Matthews personally liked both, adding, “I like the first movie better because it has more interesting scenes, but I enjoy the second one because it has more of a climax.” Even though the two had a different likeness of the movie, they both had nothing bad to say.

So, is Wicked worth the watch? According to MHS students, yes! This movie is for anyone, so watch with your family and friends. Plan that movie night, and have a wicked time!
