NeeDohs are a new super soft, stretchy stress ball that teenagers are raving over in school. They are filled with a dough-ish inside and go back to their original shape slowly after squeezing them. NeeDohs form a sense of peace when fidgeting with them. Students like to fidget with them to help with their focus most of the time. These toys are designed to keep hands busy and minds focused, perfect for both kids and adults. Some students also purchase them for aesthetic purposes, as they come in all sorts of colors and varieties-cubes, animals, balls, or fruits.
NeeDohs started becoming popular over the last couple of months for high schoolers. Senior Grayce Lily stated, “I think that NeeDohs became more popular because, personally for me, I’ve seen them a lot on Tik Tok.” Social media influences a lot of things on teenagers. Senior Sophia Austin stated, “I was influenced to start using a NeeDoh because the nice cube was popular on TikTok last year, so I bought it with my friend. After I bought the ice cube, I really liked it so I wanted other kinds.” NeeDohs have been around since the early 2000’s, but just recently have come out with all sorts of varieties.
Most students mainly use them to keep their hands busy while in a highly advanced class. Students prefer to keep their hands busy so they have an easier time focusing on the class and staying on track. A lot of advanced classes require a lot of listening, so keeping their hands busy helps students stay focused. Senior Sophia Austin stated, “I use them most in stats, spanish and comp. I use them in these classes because I want to keep my hands busy to help me focus on what we’re doing.”
NeeDohs have a lot of different kinds they have come out with, and they all feel a certain way. Some have a different texture, different rise time, and different designs. Students prefer certain ones for certain reasons. Austin goes on to say, “My favorite NeeDoh is the iceberg because it’s so satisfying to squish and it’s so big that I can hold it in both of my hands.” Students like to keep both hands busy so there’s no time for distractions. A lot of students feel that if they have something to keep their hands busy, their mind is more likely to focus on what the teacher is trying to teach.
This famous squishy stress reliever has become a favorite to all; it’s found in almost every classroom you look in and has benefited students in more ways than one. Once younger ages started to discover this toy, it immediately was a hit. Many NeeDohs will be on tons of Christmas lists this year, and Santa is going to be very busy!
