Seasonal symptoms

With winter coming, finals approaching, and the temperature dropping, it can be very easy for a lot of people to start to lose motivation for everyday things. As we head into a long winter, its impact on MHS students is becoming more noticeable.

In regards to the winter season, sophomore Sloane Blickenstaff shared, “I feel like I tend to put off a lot more stuff like homework and I don’t do a lot of activities. I like to just stay home and not go outside to brave the cold. I also realize that I have been going to bed early because there is nothing to do.”

The final stretch before winter break can also be very challenging to get through. Sophomore Maddie Soper added, “The biggest challenge is just getting through the last couple of weeks before break. I feel like I dread it even though it’s not that bad; I just have to look for the good in all of it.”

Blickenstaff made a comment on how she struggles with motivation: “I think that it affects my motivation by honestly not being able to go outside and enjoy it. When the weather gets cold, I feel restricted. [It’s] like I can only do so much outside and I just want to stay home.”

Winter might slow people down, but after talking to different MHS students, it is made clear that no one is dealing with this alone.
