With Thanksgiving break right around the corner, many Monticello students are anticipating their week off school to be filled with fun travel plans and spending quality time with family.
Junior Annie Robinson and her family like to spend the break somewhere new. Robinson stated, “We travel somewhere new every year. Last year, we went to Disney and Texas. Two years ago, we went to the Dominican Republic.”
Junior Lexi Leatherwood stays close but still enjoys the short distance to family. Leatherwood stated, “We used to travel to Georgia to see my Dad’s side of the family, but recently we’ve just gone to Mattoon to see my grandparents. This year, we are deciding if we want to travel somewhere new.”
With Monticello students traveling to see family, many think that having the newly added Thanksgiving break is an appropriate addition to MHS.
Students seem to appreciate having the full week off, with junior Kali Griffith stating, “It gives people enough time to travel to their families.” Robinson shared similar thoughts, saying, “It’s an important holiday, and it’s quality time with family.”
The upcoming week off affords students the opportunity to travel and spend much needed time with loved ones, before returning to finish second quarter strong and tackle finals.
