Since November 10th, the Monticello High School Boys Basketball Team has been underway with their ‘25-’26 season. After a difficult season last year, the Sages are ready and excited to improve.

When tryouts came around, most of the boys were pumped for a fresh start. “I’m looking forward to playing with mostly players in my grade; it reminds me of when we were little,” said junior power forward, Jake Motsegood.

Junior guard, Gus Reppert, had similar thoughts. “I’m excited to play in the Hoopla with my friends and enjoy the memories,” he shared.

Playing with friends is not the only thing that matters to the boys, though; having the right mindset is just as important. “We have the potential to make a good post-season run and see success during the Holiday Hoopla tournament,” said Reppert.

Some members of the tean shared their opinions on the addition of the shot clock. “With the new shot clock, I think we’ll have higher scoring games. I think it was a good addition,” stated Motsegood. “I think the shot clock could potentially have a positive effect on the way our season goes, forcing us to play at a faster pace,” stated Reppert.

The team’s mindset and preparation has been great, and everyone is excited to play. This will not only help them succeed this season, but also help make important memories along the way.
