The Monticello High School’s Youth Alive club started the year off with a powerful message of faith and hope during their Monday meeting, drawing about 20 students together for worship, fellowship, and a shared devotion. Their mission? To strengthen their relationship with one another and God.
While building strong relationships is one of Youth Alive’s goals, they have bigger plans for the future. Junior Taylor Mabry said, “I would like to grow the club even more and have a school-wide fundraiser for Project Rescue and organizations that help save women and children in human trafficking.”
This group of students holds inspiring hopes for the future, striving to involve the whole school in helping bring help, hope, and healing. Their mission aligns closely with Christian values, particularly love, justice, and healing. Looking ahead, Mabry hopes the group thrives even after she graduates; “I want the club to continue to grow and prosper. I hope to pass it on to younger students before I leave.”
Youth Alive holds meetings every Monday during homeroom in Sra Walk’s room. The meetings begin with snacks and a game, then move into a student-led reading and discussion. Afterward, the club breaks off into small groups to discuss the meaning of the passage, as well as come up with one good act they could do for someone else that week. Lastly, they get into prayer groups to end the meeting.
There are many great reasons to join Youth Alive. Sophomore Kinley Kooi explained, “It has helped me see that there is a community around me that has a strong faith, so if I ever need anything or have questions, I can go to them for support.” She describes Youth Alive as “a group of believers who want to teach others more about Christ and also learn more about Christ themselves. This group focuses on changing the community for the better.” Youth Alive is a welcoming place to grow in your faith and connect with others who want the same. The club invites anyone seeking community, encouragement, and spiritual growth to join them every Monday during homeroom in Sra Walks room. All are welcome!
