MHS groups united on Friday to put together the 5th quarter, a movie night that followed the Sages football game against BCC. Lifesavers, Facs club, and Pep club hosted the event at the MHS soccer field, playing The Goonies.
Lifesaver Senior Leader, Chloe Silver, was looking forward to the event. “I am looking forward to the 5th quarter this year especially because it feels bittersweet knowing it’s my last year to do so. I like how a movie is played that is somewhat picked on collectively as a school; something that reflects what people like to watch.”
Another Senior Leader, Ethan Courchaine, had much anticipation for the movie. “I am very excited for the 5th quarter! I believe that the weather will be perfect for the occasion and I have faith in the student body to select a good movie, and lots of people will show up and have fun for the event.”
Students did show up for the event, and they came ready for a movie and pizza. Friends settled down across the field and in bleachers, just as many of them had planned. “I am going to 5th quarter with my friends. Knowing that my senior year is the last year to attend events like this, I’m trying to do as many things as I can. The 5th quarter is always something that makes a Friday night football game even more fun,” said Silver.
The movie wasn’t the only thing students were looking forward to, with just the Friday night high school experience being enough for some. “I am most excited for the Friday night football game and spending time with everyone. Transitioning to the movie from the game should make for a fun atmosphere and good times with everyone,” said Courchaine.
The movie was a huge success, with all the contributing clubs and the attending students making it a great night. As the good weather transitions into the winter time, students will be looking to be outside as much as they can, and the 5th quarter gave them that opportunity.
