The new school year has started, and students already have a lot to say about how it’s going. Some are stressed about tough classes, while others are excited about sports, clubs, and everything that comes with being back in school.
For some, the workload feels heavy. Junior Claire Foster explained, “This school year has been stressful, yet fun. I like seeing all of my friends from last year. Some of my classes have been easy so far, but some of the core classes have been challenging, like Spanish or Human Anatomy.” Junior Emily Grabarczyk agreed that the work is no joke, saying, “junior year is tough, but I’m loving it so far.
But even with the challenges, students are finding the good parts too. Sophomore Macey Harden said, “The new school year has started off very good! I have gotten to know new people and participate in different activities.” Foster also mentioned how exciting it is to have new opportunities this year. “What I’m excited for is meeting new people and going to prom.”
Sports and activities are another big focus. Grabarczyk shared, “I do cheer and club soccer and this year is going better for me so far!” Harden also has a packed schedule, saying, “This year I am participating in golf and soccer, which are the same sports I did last year. I am also in FEA and FFA this year, which were my favorite clubs from last year!”
Even though students have a lot on their plates, they’re still looking forward to the year ahead. Grabarczyk is excited for both athletics and a break from school. She shared, “I’m looking forward to the soccer season and Christmas break!” Harden added, “I am most looking forward to meeting new people throughout the year.” Foster summed up these thoughts by saying, “This year will fly by fast, along with all of the other years in high school, and I can’t wait to be a senior.”
No matter how different their answers were, one thing is the same; students are ready to take on the school year with a mix of excitement and determination.
