The freshman volleyball players are spending this fall season focusing on finding a balance between schoolwork and sports with a loaded schedule as they adjust to their first semester of high school.
According to freshman Lauren Grabarczyk, who plays volleyball and maintains straight As, “On days before games when we just have practice I try to get my A day and B day homework done so I don’t have to worry about doing it when I get home from the game the next day, and find great results!”
Grabarczyk then said she “gets downtime with family or friends after homework or on weekends, not so much weekdays.” She still gets reset for the next day by getting “9 hours of sleep a night and spending one hour on homework.”
According to freshman volleyball player Kylie Beaver, everything is going great. “I’m balancing [school and sports] pretty well. I was scared that I would be overwhelmed, but now that it is all happening I would say it’s going great!”
Beaver said, “I have some downtime with family and friends usually on weekends but after practice I normally have more time. I spend about one hour on my homework and get about 8 hours of sleep.”
As they finish their first few weeks of the season, they seem to be adjusting well and hitting the ground hard in both the classroom and in the gym.
The freshman Sages will take on Sullivan at home on Monday.
