MHS seniors are in their last week of school, and they’re saying goodbye with a sunset. Seniors met at the football field on Thursday, May 15th for pizza and sunset, a fitting end to what was started with senior sunrise in the first quarter.
Many seniors plan on meeting friends to remember their times together. Senior Brenna Bartlow shared what she’s excited for, “I have looked forward to this happening for a little while now. I’m ready to go to college but I’ve also been excited for this knowing it’ll be closure with friends. I’m excited for the time I’ll get to spend with everyone. It’s not just time with the people I’m around all the time, but it’s also time for me to spend with my entire grade, which should be good.”
“I’m going to spend as much time with my friends as possible and also look to talk with people that I don’t usually spend time with, just to know that I ended on a good note with everyone in my grade. I’ll also definitely eat a ton of pizza over the course of the sunset,” said senior Quan Nguyen. These feelings about pizza and friends are commonly shared among others.
Others have plans with friends that night, and will incorporate the sunset into that time. “I’m going to meet with my friends and we’ll take pictures and just have a good time together. We might get food before or after, but there will be pizza so we’ll see,” said senior Audrey Shore, who also expressed how she thinks she’ll feel when the time comes. “I think it’ll be a good and fun time, but I also know that I’ll be sad knowing that my days of being around a lot of these people are almost over.”
Emotions can run high at this time of the year as seniors embrace their last moments together and remember all the other times they had. “I’ll definitely be sad seeing all of my friends together and we’ll all be realizing that the year and our times together have actually come to a close, but I also think it’ll be a good time for everyone,” said Nguyen.
For these seniors, it may be the last time they see some of their peers, so this sunset marks an important time for them. The sunset, coupled with Carnival Day and graduation, wraps up the time that these seniors have spent at MHS and starts their lives ahead.
