AP testing season has arrived, and there are many mixed emotions. After the ACT, many juniors immediately pivoted into studying for the AP tests. The testing season kicked off with AP Chemistry on May 6, and will wrap up with AP English Language and Composition on May 14.
This year, MHS hosted all the usual AP tests, including AP U.S. History, English Language and Composition, AP Calculus AB, AP Chemistry, and even had one student elect to take the AP U.S. Government and Politics test.
Junior Sadie Walsh, taking the APUSH and APEN tests, commented on how she started to prepare for the tests starting next week, “I have begun to review material online through AP classroom as well as listened to my teachers talk about and use different essays that we can analyze and use as examples of what to do and what not to do.” Furthermore, Junior Ayson Mcintosh adds onto Walsh’s feelings of preparing for these tests by stating, “I feel my teacher has prepared us pretty well as we have done multiple practice tests although it’s still very stressful.”
Both the APEN and APUSH tests are the most anticipated to be the hardest, with all the preparation it comes with and stressfulness. Walsh stated, “I’m nervous about not knowing what to write about in the essays on both the APEN and APUSH exams. I am also nervous about not knowing how to answer the multiple choice questions.”
As Mcintosh is taking the APUSH test, he comments, “I’m only taking the APUSH test so I feel pretty prepared since I’ve only had to focus on the one.”
As the date comes closer and closer to these tests, Walsh highlights how she feels on her preparement, saying “As of right now, I have hardly studied so I’d probably get a 1. But after this weekend and into next week I feel like I’ll be more confident as I plan to study throughout the weekend and next week. For the APEN one I also have next weekend, so I have a lot more time to prepare for that.” Mcintosh also recalled, “I think I’ll do decent, there’s just a lot of information to remember so I don’t think I’ll ace it.”
With the end of the school year approaching and these AP tests finally coming up, Juniors are getting through the final stretch of all these stressful tests they had this year.
