The MHS soccer girls had a big win two weekends ago at the U of I soccer showcase, winning 2 to 0 against Danville.

This is not the first time the girls have won the showcase; they have won for the past two years.

Junior Addison Finet has played soccer for the past 3 years of her highschool career. She described her love for the sport and showcase. She said,“ Winning our game at the showcase was so much fun. Winning on a bigger stage just makes the win so much better because there are more people watching and more pressure. Also, we had beat Danville the week before so it was an amazing feeling to know we were able to keep the win!”

Finet also is excited for the next year of soccer and the new faces she’ll meet. “I’m looking forward to hopefully keeping our winning streak next year and just giving new players the opportunity to play on that big of a stage.”

Preparation, although it wasn’t different from the usual routine, it was still dedicated and focused because the big game was coming off of the night of prom. “We didn’t really do much different to prepare for this game. However, we made sure to have a good focused practice the Friday before since we wouldn’t be touching a ball again until the game.”

The environment after a big win is always awesome. Finet expressed this as she said,“We were all so excited and just having a good time after the win. Our spirits were definitely very high and it just made the environment so much better.”
