The Monticello girls soccer team has started this season in a dominant fashion. With key wins over schools like Meridian, Mt. Caramel, and Olympia, the Sages look to continue their run.
When asked the reason why the team has started out so strong, junior Addison Finet said, “We have come out so strong because we have a bunch of returning players who played last year, and also our preseason workouts and open gyms helped us get an earlier start to the season so we were ready when games came around.”
Junior Margo Cassel talked about what it means to have so many girls on the team; “I have absolutely loved the amount of girls on the team this year. Every single one of them are amazing and I enjoy being around them. The younger players have been so beyond helpful and have been a big part in making our season flow smoothly.”
Cassel later spoke about her favorite game from this season so far. She stated, “My favorite game so far has probably been the Centennial game because it was really competitive and, even though we didn’t get the outcome we wanted, it’s definitely something we learned from and still are learning from to help prepare us for more future, difficult games.”
The team looks to stay hot throughout the rest of their regular season, as well as make a deep run into the postseason.
