The past couple of weeks at MHS, the girls basketball team was the talk of the hallways as they finished off their incredible regular season, taking a win over Unity on senior night on February 10th.

When asked her favorite moment from the season, Lucy Leatherwood said, “My favorite moment this season was after we just lost the regional championship game. Everyone suddenly realized how much we meant to each other and it was just an emotional moment.”

Though Macie Owen was only a freshman this year, she learned lots from her upperclassmen teammates; “I learned a lot from playing with and against girls older and better than me, as well as how to handle a lot of pressure in some tough situations.”

Senior night was incredibly special for Leatherwood. She stated, “My favorite game this season was senior night because it was a really good game vs Unity, and a win against Unity is always a good day. Also, the student section was awesome and made it a really special night.”

The team finished their outstanding season (20-11) on February 20th with a loss in the Regional Championship to an impressive Paris team (24-7).
