The Monticello Girls Soccer team’s 2025 season is coming up this March. After a successful season last year, the bar is set high, but there are still lots of challenges to take on.

The team together has been taking advantage of the new sages weight room, putting in as much work as possible. Junior Addison Finet stated, “I have been going to weights and the soccer open gyms our coaches have been putting on for the team. I am also playing indoor and played in two tournaments with my club team to get more reps in game scenarios to get ready for our games this season.”

Freshman Meg Cassel said, “I have been making sure to show up to any open gyms or workouts I can go to. I also have been making sure to have a positive attitude while also helping motivate others.”

As a team the girls bond very well and have many great things to look forward to. Finet stated, “I am looking forward to spending time with the girls on the team and bonding with them. I love our ice cream and Mexican runs and just all the activities we do together during the season. And of course I am looking forward to just playing because I love the sport and getting to play with your friends makes it even better.’

Cassel added on and stated, ”I am most excited to make new friends from different grades since I am only a freshman. I am also excited just to try a new sport that I have never played before.”

As we know, the bar is set high due to great achievements. It’s important for the Lady Sages to stay motivated and set goals. Cassel said, “My biggest motivation has been working hard so I can be better than my sister and also so that I have a chance to have some varsity minutes. I am still young and have lots of room to grow, so I’m excited to work hard this season and show what I can do.”

Finet contributed a lot on offense last year, even setting the school record for goals in a season. Finet exclaimed, “My biggest motivation was definitely how well we did last year as a team. Just knowing how good we did last season and knowing that we can be that good, maybe even better, again this season. This thought pushes me and helps me push my teammates to really focus on training in the off season so we can play to our full potential this season.”

Overall, the Sages soccer team is bound to have a great season if they keep up their hard work and training. They have great momentum coming off of their 2024 season which will hopefully lead to an even better season this year. Their home opener against Arthur Christian will be on March 18th. Come out and support the team!
