Fashion is a constantly changing industry, influenced by cultural shifts, personal preferences, and old trends. But overall it’s really just personal preference, you might love something that other people hate or vice versa, MHS is no different.
Senior Lily Spainhour’s favorite fashion trend is the oversized sweatshirt paired with leggings. She loves this outfit, as it can be dressed up with a nice pair of boots or kept casual with tennis shoes. “It’s a more laid-back and comfortable outfit,” she stated. This trend is all comfort based, where people are wearing outfits that allow them to feel comfortable yet not look like they just rolled out of bed.

However, Spainhour has very strong opinions about the trends that she dislikes. She’s not a fan of corsets. “I think that [by wearing corsets] you are destroying your ribs,” she stated. She also doesn’t care for crop tops, “I don’t think, especially for school, that we should be wearing crop tops… but other than that, I feel like free will – do what you want.”
Sophomore Johnna Rawdin’s favorite trend is bell bottoms, a style that has been around for a while, but has recently resurfaced. “I just like the older style,” she explained.
On the flip side, Rawdin cannot stand ripped jeans. “I think they are ugly. I hate them so much,” she stated. This could be because of how overdone ripped jeans are, meaning they are all over the place. Everywhere you turn you are bound to see at least one pair.
Sophomore Claire Foster’s favorite trend is what is being called the ‘sandwich method’, where your shirt matches your shoes. This method originally popped up on Tik Tok and has become huge all over the world.
In conclusion, fashion at MHS is more than just clothes. It’s a way for people to express their emotions and show their creativity. From the latest trends to unique personal styles, the people get to show off their fashion choices that reflect their personalities. As we observe the ever changing fashion industry, it is clear that fashion isn’t just about looking good but about feeling confident in yourself. The future of fashion at MHS is bright, with each student contributing their own unique style.
