Everyone knows the top water bottles right now are Stanleys and Owalas. These water bottles are very different from each other in their own way, but how do people really feel about them? Do people actually like them? Are they just doing it for the trend? More importantly, which one is the best?
Junior Julia Gyorr has both a Stanley and an Owala. For how the cups look Gyorr said, “Owala colors are cuter.” She admitted to liking her Owala better, but said that her Stanley still had some bonuses, ”[My Owala] doesn’t spill and it’s easier to carry around, but my Stanley fits better in my cup holder in my car.”
If given the opportunity, Gyorr would want to change the size of the Owala so it would fit in her car cup holder. However, she “wishes [her] Stanley wouldn’t spill” and that was the deciding factor in the debate for her.
Junior Olivia Gerdes also has both a Stanley and an Owala just like Gyorr. Gerdes said, “I personally prefer my Owala over my Stanley, because the handle is easier to hold and it doesn’t leak when you tip it over.”
Similar to Gyorr, Gerdes likes the Owala better, but she would like to change it so it would fit “in an ordinary cup holder.” Gerdes also stated, “I think that if you are looking for a spill free cup that is easy to travel with I would suggest an Owala.”
Based on these two juniors, it barely is a controversy. An Owala is much more functional than a Stanley. However, the hallways are still full of both and will continue to be until this trend dies out.
