MHS students are going through the rough of winter. Along with that come the moods of  the dark and dreary season. Some, like junior Rachel Ross, shared what helps her get through the winter months. She stated, “Honestly I think the dark months of winter have a negative effect on everyone in the school; students and teachers. You can tell when walking around the halls that people aren’t as cheery to be at school. For me, I just try to remember that everyone is feeling the same way I am. I also try to think about the warm months ahead!”

For some, with less sunlight also comes less motivation. It can be hard to want to do school work, go to practice, or hang out with friends. Sophomore Meg Cassel elaborated on how she stays motivated. She mentioned lighting candles and listening to music while doing homework or anything else that needed to be done.

No reason to fret though, because the warmer months are on the way! Ross stated, “When the sun starts coming out early I immediately feel a lot better. I love the feeling of it still being light out when I get done with my after school activities! It definitely changes my mood.” Cassel shared similar feelings when she exclaimed, “…I’m used to it always being dark around 4:30 or 5. It makes me happy to see the sun at those times when I normally wouldn’t.”

With spring approaching, the Sages are ready to finish the year strong, hopefully with warm and sunny days to accompany them.
