Pep Club is currently being run by Mrs. Stetson, but at the end of the 2025 school year, she will be leaving. The club raises lots of money for different causes, and each cause has its own fun event at Mrs. Stetson’s supervision and direction.

Mrs. Stetson has led Pep Club since she arrived in Monticello High School. She has added many events to the club’s schedule, like, Orange Out, 5P-, and movie nights. Other traditions she has started are decorating senior houses, passing of school spirit from seniors to kindergarteners, my jersey-your impact, rock paper scissors war, and many other events. It will take a lot of skill and dedication to match her level. There are many amazing traits to Mrs. Stetson, but will the new leader have them?

Sophomore Jada McCabe wants the new leader to, “be very enthusiastic and have a lot of school spirit.”, and Sophomore Vivienne Bullwinkle said,  “They need to be devoted to the time it will take to pull off events, and be able to hype the students up and not be shy.”

Some students have taking it upon themselves to find a perfect match for the next leader. Many have gone to their favorite teacher and are urging them to take on the role.

Junior Rachel Ross states, “I think Mrs. Burton would take over as the new Pep Club leader. Mrs. Burton is the football cheer coach, and I feel like the cheer team and Pep Club collaborate well with each other.”

Along with Ross, junior Ethan Courchaine also thinks that Mrs. Burton should run Pep Club. Courchaine stated, “I think that she would do a fantastic job because she is already good with students, and has leadership experience with the cheerleaders.”

Sophomore Logan Kuntz takes another approach, nominating Mrs. Camacho for the role. He states,  “She is great with the students, and she is always open to new ideas.” Mrs. Camacho and Mrs. Allen co-share Student Council, but if she took Pep Club over, she would have something of her own.

As we say goodbye to Mrs. Stetson, we are reminded of the immense dedication and passion she brought to our school, both as a teacher and as the sponsor of Pep Club. Her commitment and enthusiasm have left an incredibly big mark on the community. Though her shoes will be big to fill, we welcome the new sponsor and hope that they will rise to the challenge and continue the legacy and devotion that Mrs. Steton has set.
