Juniors gearing up for the ACT

The junior class is preparing to take their ACT exams that will have a big impact on their future. Most students are starting to get anxious while preparing for their exams and the second half of the semester.

MHS students know how important the ACT can be. “I am stressed about taking the ACT because it determines my future,” said junior Mylin Bruhn.

Some students have taken the exam and know maintaining A’s this semester would help along with improving on the exam. “My goal for 2nd semester is to have all A’s, and my ACT goal is to increase my score by a margin of 8 or higher,” shared junior Mason Pyatt.

Maintaining A’s would help some students who are worried about being able to do that. “I am stressed about Spanish because the conjugations are supposed to become more difficult,” said Bruhn.

AP classes also make it harder to maintain A’s because of the amount of preparing it takes. “AP Chemistry is hard because it requires a lot of practice and preparation before exams,” stated Pyatt.

MHS does have an ACT homeroom that tries to help benefit students so they are more prepared. However, students need to study on their own time as well in order to be fully prepared. “I study using the ACT prep book almost daily and by taking ACT practice tests online,” said Pyatt.

Other students have different ways of preparing. “I am preparing by being in the ACT homeroom and also taking an ACT prep class,” shared Bruhn.

Junior year is typically the hardest and most stressful for MHS students. Right now, most of the students are feeling the stress and importance of finishing this semester strong and the significance of the upcoming ACT exam.
