The cast of this year’s spring musical May We All is hard at work to once again bring an incredible performance to the MHS auditorium.
May We All is a country jukebox musical about a small town called Harmony, Tennessee. A local sensation Jenna Coates left Harmony to pursue her dreams of fame in Nashville. Jenna returns home after two years, making it unclear if she made it big. Now Jenna will need to face the music, reconnect with those she loved and make peace with her past to save herself and the small town she loves. Some familiar tunes you might hear in this show would be “Jolene” by Dolly Parton, “Achy Breaky Heart” by Billy Ray Cyrus, “Broken Halos” by Chris Stapleton and many more famous country hits.
Under the direction of Mrs. Graham, Mrs. Malone, and Mrs. Kathy Brown, the cast started rehearsals in the beginning of January. They rehearse every day after school, as well as on Saturday mornings. Senior Jackson Heck said, “I am feeling pretty confident going into month two of rehearsals! The dances and songs are really fun to be a part of and I can’t wait to see how they turn out.”
Senior Leah Killion added onto that saying, “Rehearsals have been a lot more choreography based on this musical compared to past ones I’ve been in, but that just means this show is going to be so much more lively and dance heavy!”
There are 25 amazing songs in this production, one being an original written for the show. Senior Lynette Fenelon struggled to decide on a favorite, saying, “My favorite song would have to be ‘Play Something Country,’ because I love the choreography and the female empowerment clearly strives throughout the song.”
Fenelon also described the show in three words: “Warm, Heartfelt, Dandy!”
Tickets will go on sale in mid-February for shows in the MHS auditorium at 7pm on March 6-8 and at 2pm on March 9.
