The MHS boys basketball team had a slow start this season, kicking off the year 0-4.

As the season went on, the boys team started slowly turning it around, with many of the boys attributing that to team chemistry. Senior guard Tyler Blythe said, “We have locked in together more, and have built relationships together.”

Sophomore guard Gus Reppert shared a similar feeling. He said, “We go hard in practice, making each other better each and every day.”

Senior forward Gatsby Grant stated, “We have to talk and encourage each other, and work together on the court.”

They hope to continue this success, but team chemistry is not everything they need.

Most athletes have a pre-game snack or routine that they stick to. “I usually eat a light snack, listen to some music, and warm up,” said senior Blythe.

Everyone’s basketball routine is a little different. “I usually eat a light meal, get dressed and do a dynamic stretching routine, followed by warming up on the court,” said Reppert.

Having better team chemistry will not only help the team get better and win games, but it will also help them learn to like each other, which will go a long way.
