Kicking off the season

The Girl’s Basketball season at MHS has begun, starting steady with a record of 2-2. 2 varsity starters, Senior Megan Allen and Sophomore Sarah Cresap, talk about their experiences with their season so far.

Allen is planning to attend college for basketball so she has been training to become a better player in multiple different variations. She said, “I am constantly working on different ways to become a better player from 3-point shooting to defense.”

Allen doesn’t only have goals for herself, but also for her team. She stated, “As a team, I think we have a lot of potential and talent. I want to have a winning record. I want to win regionals. I think those are obtainable goals to set for our team.”

Regarding Cresap’s views on the season, she said, “So far this season we have started off much stronger but there will always be room for improvement.” Adding on to that, she stated, “I’m looking forward to playing with some of my new teammates and creating a better bond with them, especially the freshman.”

Similar to Cresap, Allen added, “We had a rough first game but I thought we had a nice bounce back in the next two. We are starting to come together as a team but I think we still have more potential to achieve.”

On December 26th, the annual Holiday Hoopla is taking place and that is something Allen is looking forward to. She said, “I am looking forward to Holiday Hoopla. It’s one of my favorite parts of the season. It’s so fun to all come together after Christmas.”

The Girl’s basketball season has just begun, so come and support the Sages on their home court on Tuesday, December 10th, or the first conference game of the season Saturday, December 14th!
