The sages won their first playoff game against DuQuoin 49-20. The Sages look to keep their season alive this week in what will be a great game against Williamsville.
The Sages will be led by a heavy senior class, including starting quarterback Ike Young. “I’m looking forward to making a run and keeping our season alive. The seniors this year have a drive to be great, so we are all determined and have the same goal in mind,” said Young.
Senior Hunter Romano is also looking forward to one last playoff run. “I’m looking forward to winning and being a part of this team one last time,” shared Romano.
These seniors have had a lot of great memories so far throughout their career and season. “My favorite game this year has probably been BCC. It was a close game the whole time, and the team really came together and held strong throughout the whole game. We came together as a unit that night, and I think it helped our chemistry,” said Young.
The Sages finished the regular season 7-2 with room to improve. “The biggest focus is just coming together as a team and cleaning up all the mistakes of the regular season. In the postseason, there’s no room to make mistakes,” said Young.
Romano shared his thoughts leading up to the first playoff game against DuQuoin. The sages took down DuQuoin 49-20. “On the offensive side of the ball, we need to be able to execute. Passes must be caught, blocks have to be laid, and we need to be able to pick up yards on the ground. On the defensive side, we can’t let them gain a yard,” said Romano.
Come out to support the Sages this Saturday as they take on the Bullets, who went 8-1 in the regular season and won their first playoff game with ease, in Williamsville at 2pm. The Sages hope to pull off the upset and keep their season alive.
