The excitement for the boys and girls golf teams has been noticeable around MHS since the start of the season in mid-August.

In particular, a unique aspect of this season is that the girls golf team is the biggest the school has ever seen. Senior golfer Macy Printy said, “I’m definitely super excited about the number of girls we have this year. We’ve never had this many [girls on the golf team], so having that much potential and having that many players for the next coming years is really exciting.”

Senior Connor Kuntz spoke about his goals for this season, saying, “My goal is to try to shoot in the 70s as much as I can.” He jokingly added, “It hasn’t gone that way so far…it’s early…we got a lot of time left. [I’m] feeling good now.”

Kuntz added, “I think the team—just in the back of our heads, we haven’t really said it out loud yet—but I think we’re wanting to go to state, and do pretty well there.”

The girls golf team started their season off by having a special team bonding night. Printy stated, “Having all the girls we do its hard to connect with them each individually, so getting to really know them all and spend time with them was really fun and a great for the team.”

Printy then described the event, saying, “It was a big pot luck with everyone bringing some great food, playing foosball, shuffleboard, and watching some movies at the end.”

Kuntz later spoke about the connection of this years boys team, saying, “The team this year is very connected. I think even more so than past years because of the amount of seniors we have.”

Kuntz added, “We’re all close friends already, so adding that golf aspect just makes it that much better.”
