Every student going into freshman year of high school had the same nervous feeling on the first day, especially when it came to not having classes or lunches with friends.
School activities, such as sports and clubs, are crucial to students’ social and personal development. They provide a platform for students to meet new people, explore different interests, and develop new skills.
There are many clubs at the high school for students to sign up for, but one of the more popular ones is Mrs. Stetson’s Pep Club.
Freshman Ellie Freeman is planning on joining the Pep Club “because it seems fun, and I want to meet other students in the high school that I don’t already know.”
Upperclassmen are everywhere throughout the school. There will always be upperclassmen in every sport, club, or school activity. Befriending someone older in high school always has its perks.
Freshman Mia Johnston said, “I’m on the golf team, so I’m constantly around upperclassmen, as most of the team is older than me. Being surrounded by them helps because I can always get a ride, or find help whenever I need it.”

Being in school, surrounded by hundreds of other students, is bound to help the freshmen make new friendships and connections.
Freshman Max Walden said, “I think school pushes you to talk to people and to make friends. Being in classes without friends helps with making new friends, talking to more people, and stepping out of your comfort zone.”
