The MHS Pep Club does so much for the school and town! Yes, they hype up student sections and create fundraisers, but there is so much more that goes into these events behind the scenes.
You may be wondering, what is Pep Club? “Pep Club is a group that promotes school spirit. They are responsible for the student section at sporting events, organizing fundraisers for charities (Paint Piatt Pink, St. Jude, and 5P- Society) and honoring our senior athletes,” explained Tera Stetson, who is the head of the Club.
Junior Pyper Burton explained the difficulties of planning and creating such big events for not only the school, but the town. “Some struggles we have had so far are getting things accomplished along with completing all of the beginning of the year meetings and tasks.” Mrs. Stetson also adds that some of the hardest aspects of having such a big club can be getting everyone involved. She mentions how some sports get more support and participation by peers than others do. “We really lack when it comes to soccer, baseball/softball, XC, Track, Golf, Wrestling, and Swim. These programs have all had success in the last few years, however, I feel like our student body doesn’t give them enough support.”
Even with such struggles, Pep Club always manages to show their support to all and continues to spread their joy and love to everyone. They never fail to make everyone feel seen and noticed. Junior Pyper Burton emphasized why Pep Club is important to her. “Pep Club helps bring the whole school together to cheer on others and keep everyone involved. This is a way for our school to cheer everyone else on and support others!”
“I love seeing the students taking a break from academics to come together and show some school pride. I love seeing the students raise money for local causes while having fun. Whether it’s kissing a goat, taking a pie to the face, or dressing up to cheer on their peers, it’s just cool to see everyone unite.” Mrs. Stetson emphasized.
