The first full week back to school can be a tough one, but the teachers at MHS make the best of it by taking the time to get to know their students as well as getting into the flow of a routine again.

Industrial tech. teacher, Mr. Standerfer, stated, “…I can honestly tell you with the exception of my four years of undergraduate work when I was a college student. I’ve always been miserable at the beginning of the school year.”
Math teacher Mrs. Biswell said, “I felt less ready than normal to come back to school at the end of the summer, and I still feel a little disorganized, but I’m starting to get into a routine now.”
This was the case for a majority of the students and staff this year, with the exception of a few. However, they are starting to get into the groove of things and all of the classes have already started with assignments, so it feels more organized and normal.
In a more positive light, Mrs. Biswell stated, “I think [the school year is] going really well so far. I really enjoy all of my students and everybody is behaving and doing what they are supposed to.”
This is progress because almost every year the teachers have at least one group of students who don’t do what they are supposed to, or behave how one should in a classroom, which then in turn affects everyone. It dampers the students’ learning, as well as the teachers enjoyment of teaching.
English teacher, Mrs. Hettinger, stated, “I did not want to come back this year, which made the beginning of the school year so much better…between my team and the kids, everything is going so smoothly that I’m really glad to be back now.”
