The Sages traveled to Pontiac on Tuesday, April 30th for the Illini Prairie Conference track meet. The girls team secured 2nd place in the meet. The boys team took home 4th place as well with senior Mar Forman taking home 1st place in discus.
Forman commented on his performance and said, “I prepared by working on my technique at practice every day.”
Mar also commented on his goals for the season and how he was going to achieve them; “My goals for the season are to make it to State and hopefully take home the State Championship trophy. To achieve my goals, I plan on working hard at practice and listening to Coach Woodham’s advice.”
Sophomore pole vaulter and distance runner Mylin Bruhn commented on the girls’ second place performance at the meet. “We were able to get second place because all the girls on the team give great effort, work hard at practice, and are a very supportive group to be around. I am very proud of the progress we have made throughout the season,” said Bruhn.
Bruhn added, “I hope to have a good performance at the Sectional meet, not just individually, but as a team. We plan to achieve these goals by continuing to work hard at practice, pushing myself, and my teammates to be better.”
The track team seems to be hitting their stride at the right time of the season as Sectionals and State are right around the corner.
Girls’ Sectional meet is May 8th at Charleston, and boys’ Sectional meet is May 15th at Rantoul. The girls’ State meet is May 17th and 18th, and the boys’ State meet is May 24th and 25th.
You can catch the Sages in action next at the girls meet in St Joseph on Friday and the boys on May 7th at Sullivan.
