Sages track starting off strong

The Monticello Sages track team started their season in the middle of January and have been working hard throughout their indoor season in order to achieve success. They have already had meets at Mt. Zion, Illinois Wesleyan University, and Carbondale.

The Sages have had a good start to their season. Senior Charlie Dill stated, “We have had a great start to our season and have been working hard every day to improve.”

Another senior on the team Rylan Good agreed with Dill and added, “I think we’ve been having a good season so far. My favorite part of the season has been watching Cole break his PR in the first meet.”

Dill spoke on how they work to improve and make sure they continue to have success and added, “We do a lot of stretching before and after practice to make sure we are able to get the most out of our workouts while staying safe from injuries.”

Good talked about his individual efforts to work back to being at his best after the offseason since last year and said, “I’ve been training hard in practice which has been going well. I think I’m already getting back to where I was last year.”

The Sages look to end their indoor season with meets at the University of Illinois and again at Illinois Wesleyan before they start preparing for the outdoor season. Indoor State will be held on March 23rd at Illinois Wesleyan with the outdoor season beginning the next day.
