The school year is moving quickly and with that spring sports are going into session. After an exceedingly successful soccer season last year, many returning players are eager to get back into the practices.

Senior Sylvie Harvey expressed, “I’m really excited for this year because we have really high expectations for us. Coming off a great season last year everyone is even more motivated to win, and go farther in the postseason.”

Junior Megan Allen also spoke on the previous success of the team and said, “We broke the win record last year, and I bet we will do it again this year. We returned almost all of our starters, and everyone is continuing to get better.”

With many returning players, the connections on the team are strong and developed. Harvey affirmed, “I love the environment that we have on the team. Even though outside of soccer not all of us are best friends, during the season we are all like family. I also love the bond with the coaches. We all are able to joke around and talk with our coaches, but we know when it’s time to dial in we all do. We have a great work, to play balance.”

Junior Elle Bodznick also spoke about the relationships within the team and stated, “Soccer has brought so many great people into my life! I have made some of my closest friends through it, and I love spending time with them on and off the field. The relationships I’ve made while on the team have continued to grow throughout my high school career, and I’m grateful for each and every one.”

The team is filled with optimism; however, some seniors are troubled with the thought of this season being their last. “It hasn’t hit me yet that this is my last season, as I am trying not to focus on that. It will probably feel more real in the first week of practice since it will really be happening. I want to go out with a bang, which I feel we have the opportunity to do,” said senior Tynley Jackson.

Harvey also stated, “I’m really excited for this season because I know all of the talent we have, but it’s also sad since it’s my last season. It’s going to be hard to leave soccer behind, and the girls behind, but I’m hoping to have a great season to end my high school career!”

The soccer team will have their first game on Tuesday, March 12th, and they are hoping to start off the season with a win!
