As the winter progresses, the Girls’ Sages Soccer team continues their indoor season winter league. This is a great way for the team to get in shape for the spring season, which follows the winter league. Senior Tynley Jackson said, “It gives the team a great opportunity to stay sharp during game situations.”

The team started their second winter league session with a winning streak. Beating rival schools Urbana and Centennial, the Sages are hopeful that this will lead to a successful season. The girls are confident that they will remain undefeated for the remainder of the winter season.

Another benefit of the Sages indoor season is it gives a great preview to how the regular season is. Girls who are new to the sport often experiment with it during the season since it’s a little more casual than the spring season. Senior Charlie Ball said, “I like indoor because of how laid back it is, and how it’s a different environment compared to high school season.”

Lots of girls participate in it to get closer to others on the team. Sophomore Lauren Good shared, “Winter League is a great way for me to get to get close with people before the regular season starts.”

Indoor season is also a great way for the girls to step up and lead their team since it’s all player-led. Junior Alice Swanson said, “It helps me to keep in shape during the off-season, and it’s a lot of fun to play with my friends. We get to kind of lead ourselves.”
