As the second semester starts to ramp up after coming back from winter break, many seniors are catching a case of senioritis. Lots of seniors are looking towards the future and deciding what they are going to do post college, whether it be college, the trades, military, and some are even planning to travel. These young adults are starting their lives.

Senior Charlie Moore shared, “I’m headed into the union after I graduate. I’m super thankful for all the classes that I took at Monticello High School that prepared me for this career. I hope to be an electrician soon.”

One senior, Kylie Cherry, stated, “Second semester is going good so far; I am having a lot of fun. I feel like the workload is not too heavy anymore, and I don’t have any hard classes besides AP Calculus. Things are really starting to wind down!”

Lots of seniors are bittersweet about graduating. Senior Jacob Long is a life-long devoted Sage and said “My happiness is at a 7 because Monticello High School is awesome, and I love being a Sage.”

Class of 2024 really connected with lots of students in the school. They all lived through hard times together, like COVID-19 and the school going through lots of construction.

Mrs. Hettinger, an English teacher at Monticello High School shared, “I really loved this class specifically because I had them as sophomores the weird post-COVID year.  We were going through the changes together, and they had lots of personality that were fun and not a pain in the butt. I remember laughing a lot with this class. I am also going to miss them a lot because I think they will be so successful.”
