The Monticello Sages basketball team has not started the season as well as they would like to, as they are currently 3-4. However, they are looking to turn things around in order to be at their best for the upcoming Holiday Hoopla. The Hoopla is one of the biggest events in the basketball season, and the Sages are excited to try and win it all this year.
Senior Jack Weidner has a lot of anticipation for the Hoopla and said, “We really hope that we can be playing our best basketball as a team so that we can have the best chance to go out there and win it.”
Weidner also talked about how cool the atmosphere of the Hoopla is and added, “It’s really cool how the whole community really comes out and supports us during the games, especially when we get to the championship.”
Another leader on the team, Senior Raiden Colbert also has high hopes for the Sages chances in the Hoopla and shared, “Last year we weren’t able to get the job done and lost in the championship, but I think this year we have a good chance to go on a run and win it all.”
Hopefully the Sages are able to make it back to the championship this year and win it all. The team will start off the tournament playing Clinton, Ridgeview, and Neoga in pool play.
