For many years, Monticello FFA has hosted a fundraiser at the middle school in order to raise money for their FFA chapter. This annual event is called Harvest Fest and is very important in order to support the Ag program at our school.

Junior Brenna Bartlow said, “Harvest Fest is the one night where students host an auction, dinner, childcare, and other activities. FFA students donate pies for our live auction and items for our silent auction.”

Harvest Fest holds many important purposes for Monticello FFA. Bartlow shared, “We travel to different operations and conventions. In doing so, we have to have money to provide hotels, food, and pay for activities. This is our main fundraiser that brings us a sum to allow us to travel.”

Not only is Harvest Fest an event that allows money to be made for our FFA chapter, but it is an event that allows fun and memorable experiences to be made as well.

Sophomore Mylin Bruhn said, “I have had a ton of fun helping set up the event and taking pictures. It is super cool to look at the pictures that I have taken and see the hard work and selflessness behind them. I have also really enjoyed helping with childcare and the pie auction!”

Harvest Fest this year seemed to be a big success according to many Monticello High School students who attended. Bruhn shared, “I felt like the members of FFA were very involved in helping organize the event. Harvest Fest was so successful this year because we were able to raise $15,000! There were many people from the community donating pies and buying pies as well!”
