Each year, our school has a fun event called the Jersey Impact that senior athletes can sign up to participate in. This is an opportunity to show teachers of the past or teachers that you have currently that you appreciate them, and it’s a chance to return the favor. 

Senior Charlie Ball commented, “The Jersey Impact is where a student athlete gives a teacher who has impacted their life a jersey or a shirt that a teacher to wear or have for the day, but then they will keep it.” 

This event is special for both students and teachers. It’s a chance to share a smile with someone who has impacted your life. It’s also a good chance to get more students and teachers involved together in a positive and fun way that will make memories for a lifetime.

Ball said, “I like this event because it shows our teachers that they have impacted our lives not just at school, but outside of school. We give back to them and show our appreciation.”  The Jersey impact is a way of “spreading the love” in a simple way that could easily brighten someone’s mood with just the one simple action of recognizing the work they put in every single day. 

Senior Charlie Moore, who is also taking part in this event this year stated his likes about this event as well, “I like that it gives back to people who sometimes go unnoticed, and it puts a smile on their face.”

Moore this year is presenting his jersey to Mr. Standerfer. He said, “I chose Mr. Standerfer because he has been my best friend for the past year, and we get along like brothers.” 

Not many seniors have signed up this year, but it is such a fun event and puts a smile on so many faces.

Moore commented, “I think future seniors should because getting teachers involved is what they love and being there to support our programs.”

Only four seniors have signed up this year. Being one of the four, Ball said, “I decided to participate in this event because it is important to show our teachers the impact they have on us outside of the classroom.” 

This event is much more than just inside the classroom and the way one teaches, it’s the way they interact and impact outside of the classroom as well. 

The jersey impact is about getting teachers and student athletes involved and sharing a smile. The event gives back to those who give their all. It also is important to recognize those that work everyday to support all of us everyday and take a moment to give back. The jersey impact is an easy and special way to tell someone thank you in a way that they will be able to remember and hold onto forever.
