During homecoming week, two traditions that many students in the school take part in are the powderpuff games and the bonfire to get ready for the football game on Friday.

All the players and coaches get to the field about an hour before the games to warm up and get ready to play. It is an enjoyable time for all involved.

“Coming out here and just being able to hang out and play with my friends, it’s really fun,” said senior Reese Patton.

Unfortunately for the seniors, they were not able to win and lost to the juniors in the championship.

“Even though we were upset we weren’t able to win, I felt like this year we had fun. We definitely worked better as a team even if we still lost,” added Patton.

After all the games are over, the band leads the whole school across the road over to the bonfire, playing the school song, where the senior football captains throw a dummy into the fire that represents the opposing team.

Senior Captain Luke Teschke said, “Watching all the older players do this and now having the opportunity to lead the school in a tradition that gets everyone hyped up for the game on Friday, it was really cool.”
