The load that student athletes take on is often overlooked, they have to balance homework, practice, and sporting events. This can be a lot for the athletes to handle, and can be very stressful.

Planning is an essential way to stay organized as a student athlete. Sophomore River Derby likes to “do this with a planner usually or in my head, planning ahead to gives me an idea of what to schedule later on and keep my stress to a minimum”. Planning your day around practices and homework can be difficult, however, it is essential to maintain good grades as a student athlete.

However, even after planning though your schedule, it can be hard to keep the motivation to actually execute your plan. Sophomore Brenna Bartlow explains that “it may be challenging some days, and you may need to sacrifice some time for yourself to study and do homework, but the reward of the good grades is worth it”.

While being a student athlete can be tough, there are also many benefits to it. Sophomore Nina Prixty stated that “it definitely makes you stronger and is really beneficial for friendships, socializing, collage opportunities, and much more”
